Don Rahrig

CEO & Founder, Rain Engineering

  • CEO of Rain Engineering, focused on MES integration, implementation, and support for manufacturers.
  • 20+ years in industrial automation, MES, and manufacturing technology roles (Rockwell, ATS, ROWhy, Rain).
  • Contributor on MES and cloud MES for GE Vernova and other industry platforms.
  • Led MES-related initiatives for 50+ manufacturers across multiple industries.

Don Rahrig is CEO of Rain Engineering, where he helps manufacturers turn underused MES and Proficy platforms into everyday tools that operators, engineers, and plant leaders actually rely on.

With more than 20 years at the intersection of automation, MES, and manufacturing leadership, Don has led MES projects and programs for over 50 manufacturers across industries, from food and beverage to automotive and consumer goods.

Before founding Rain Engineering, Don held roles in project engineering, channel sales, and business development at GE Intelligent Platforms, Rockwell Automation, ATS Automation, and his family’s machine tool service business—experience that keeps his advice grounded in what works on the plant floor, not just in a slide deck.

Don is a regular voice in the MES community, contributing insight on Proficy MES, cloud MES, and digital transformation through GE Vernova content, industry podcasts, and events like the Automate Show and GE’s Manufacturing KnowHow podcast series.

After helping dozens of plants try to “fix” problems with software alone, Don has seen one pattern repeat: technology only delivers a return when it fits the people, processes, and constraints of the plant. That belief shapes the way Rain Engineering guides manufacturers who already own MES to protect their investment, simplify adoption, and get measurable results from the systems they have.
