Folks, the U.S. manufacturing sector is about to be the benefactor of an ocean of cash flowing from government programs that is expected to help revitalize this important industry.
When the funds start pouring in, however, Washington is going to expect U.S. manufacturers to be able to hold up our end of the bargain. If the government’s demands aren’t met by an industry they are willingly throwing funds into, it’s extremely possible that ocean of cash will turn into a dripping faucet.
Today, we look at the benefits that are expected to come from this massive government investment in the manufacturing sector, what is expected of manufacturers in response, and what we in the industry can do to make sure — when the time comes — we’re ready to deliver.
Washington’s efforts to reshore and revitalize the U.S. manufacturing sector has been a hot topic in the industry for a while now. (MORE ON THIS HERE…)
Such efforts to reshore U.S. businesses who fled the country due to the toxicity of past tax programs, the push of potentially confining “green” efforts, and overall better offerings from foreign nations has arguably left the national industrial complex a shell of what it once was.
It was for this very reason that a sigh of relief echoed through the U.S. manufacturing sector when President Biden made note of his goal to bring American manufacturing back to life in his most recent State of the Union. (A statement that has left many in the industry preparing to reap the benefits.)
… And while many U.S. businesses may already be taking advantage of the Biden administration’s pro-business tax incentives and work programs, according to President Biden, the best is yet to come.
Contrary to some opinions, money does not fix all.
While it is certainly a good resource to take advantage of, its powers are ultimately limited.
In the end, all the money in the world will not solve a problem that does not have the tools and/or manpower at its disposal to complete the task.
If you want a house built, you can’t just say “here’s a million dollars, I want a house.”
(Well, you CAN, but it’s not going to get you results.)
In the end, you – or people representing you – will need to make sure the resources are available to get that job done. This includes collecting tangible products like lumber for the structure itself, but it also includes gathering workers to form that lumber into what you wish.
The same goes for the current situation manufacturers find themselves in today.
No matter how much money Washington throws at this problem, should a qualified workforce not be prepared to take on their demands, we’re not going to be any better off than we are currently.
That’s why TODAY, to help prepare for the days ahead, industry leaders need to be working to gather and educate the workforce they hope to utilize to meet D.C.’s expectations.
This is easier said than done, however, as today’s qualified candidate list continues to dwindle.

There’s certainly a lot riding on the efforts of the Biden administration in the manufacturing industry.
While we have already made great strides in the industry when compared to where we were only a few short years ago, should this administration be able to hold up their end of the bargain, there’s much more to look forward to in the days ahead.
